WALK IN LOVE

Ephesians 5:1-2
1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance. (WEB)

In yesterday's blog, I talked about how our reasonable act of worship was to simply present our bodies as living sacrifices to our heavenly Father. Today, I continue with this theme by further unpacking what it means for us to live our lives as living sacrifices.

It is pretty simple really. The secret is for us to be like our Dad! The Apostle Paul tells us in today's Scripture reading that we are to be imitators of God because we are His beloved children. In the next verse, Paul tells us what the result will be when we simply mirror what we see our Father doing... We will begin to walk in a greater sense of love... A love for God... A love for ourselves... and a love for others.

The more that we are convinced that we are loved beyond our wildest dreams, the more that we will begin to love like Jesus loves us! The more we love like Jesus loves us, the more our lives will become an offering and a sacrifice to our Father which is a sweet-smelling fragrance in His nostrils.

My prayer today is that we would all know that it isn't rocket science. We cannot understand the unfathomable love of God with our human effort. No matter how much we concentrate and try to figure it out, it is way beyond our ability to grasp it in our own strength. I believe that the secret to truly walking in the love that God has for us is by learning to become little children who have a really big Dad.

How do little ones relate to their dads in the natural realm? They watch them and then imitate what they do. It is that simple with us too. If we just keep our eyes fixed on the Godhead, and just do what we see them doing, everything will work out just fine. May we all find that the secret to growing in love is not growing up, but growing down.
