GOD IS LOVE
1 John 4:7-8
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. 8 He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love. (WEB)
God is love. He not only loves, but He is love itself. And everyone who truly loves with the love that comes from God is born of God. If we don't love others, we have not yet come to the place where we truly know how much we are loved by our God and Father.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, we read a description of what love is... 4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. (WEB)
My prayer today is that we would know that we were created for love by the One who is love itself. May each one of us be filled with the full measure of God's fullness today. May we choose to live in the love that God has for us and love Him with all our hearts and begin to fulfill the Great Commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39).
John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (WEB)
