GOD IS LOVE
1 John 4:7-8
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. 8 He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love. (WEB)
God is love. Not only does He love, but He is love itself. Everyone who genuinely loves through God's love is born of God. If we don't love others, it means we haven't yet truly understood how much our God and Father love us.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, we read a description of what love is... 4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. (WEB)
My prayer today is that we recognize we were created for love by the One who is love itself. May each of us be filled with God's fullness today. May we choose to live in the love that God has for us, love Him with all our hearts, and begin to fulfill the Great Commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39).
John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (WEB)
