CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON
Romans 8:29-30
29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified. (WEB)
It was always the Father's plan for you to be conformed to the image of His beloved Son, Jesus. Ephesians 1:4 tells us that God chose us before the foundation of the world... that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; (WEB) Our Heavenly Father has committed all of the resources in heaven to make this a reality.
In today's Bible reading, we learn why this is so important to Him: He (Jesus) might be the firstborn among many brothers. God's eternal plan has always been that we would one day become part of His family—not just servants working in our master's house but His actual sons and daughters. Our Father has called us to this glorious position in Christ in His love.
In His love, He has predestined us to be just like Jesus... not because of our self-effort, but because of His incomprehensible grace. Whom God has called, He has also justified. And as today's text clearly says, whom our Father has justified, He has also glorified.
My prayer today is that we would know why it pleased our Father to conform us to the image of His Son—so that we could be just like Jesus in every way. Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross has secured this for every believer who has said 'yes' to Him. He is our big brother because He is the firstborn among many brothers (and sisters)!
May a fresh move of the Spirit of God sweep over us today so that we all know that we truly belong to the most glorious family ever! We are not slaves working for approval, but we are joint heirs with Jesus and heirs of God Himself, and the only appropriate response is for us to cry out, "Abba, Father!"
Galatians 4:6-7
6 And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” 7 So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (WEB)
