APRIL 5
WORKING WITH OUR DAD
John 5:17
But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.” (WEB)
Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing, so as the Father continued to work, so did Jesus. It is interesting to note that Jesus’ work was in complete union and harmony with His Father’s. He wasn’t trying to do His own thing; rather, the very purpose of His coming to Earth was to fulfill all that His Dad intended for Him to accomplish.
Since our union with Jesus secures us the same union He has with His Father, each of us is called to work alongside Father, Son, and Spirit in all that we do. Because we are all unique reflections of God's image, everything we are entrusted to do will be different.
When we begin to believe we are loved for who we truly are, the good work our Father prepared for us to do (Ephesians 2:10) will be gloriously unique for each of us. Sometimes, that work might be going to the nations, and at other times, it might mean having a nap. But the more we begin to yield to the beautiful life flow of God living within us, the more we will realize that our entire lives are living sacrifices to God and are wholly pleasing in His sight!
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. 2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
