THE GREAT COUNSELOR
John 14:15-17
15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you. (WEB)
In today's Scripture reading, Jesus tells His disciples that His Father would give them another Counselor who would not only live with them, but would also be in them. The indwelling presence of God Himself in the form of His Spirit will be with us forever! Wherever we go, He goes. As a matter of fact, our spirits have been joined with the Holy Spirit so it is impossible for us to separate ourselves from the life of God any longer.
My prayer today is that each one of us would know that the Great Counselor has chosen to make His dwelling place in our hearts. If we would silence the busyness around us and ask Him for a deeper revelation of Himself, I am confident that He would answer our prayer.
While it is wonderful to be helped by friends, family and counselors in this life, no one could ever compare to the Great Counselor that is already indwelling us. May our eyes be open to feel His presence and may our ears be open to hear what He is speaking to us right now.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? (WEB)
