THE GREAT COUNSELOR
John 14:15-17
15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you. (WEB)
In today's Scripture reading, Jesus tells His disciples that His Father would give them another Counselor who would not only live with them but also be in them. The indwelling presence of God Himself, in the form of His Spirit, will be with us forever! Wherever we go, He goes. Our spirits have been joined with the Holy Spirit, so we can't separate ourselves from God's life any longer.
Today, I pray that we will know that the Great Counselor has chosen to make His dwelling place in our hearts. If we silence the busyness around us and ask Him for a deeper revelation of Himself, I am confident He will answer our prayer.
While it is wonderful to be helped by friends, family, and counselors in this life, no one can compare to the Great Counselor who is already indwelling us. May our eyes be open to feel His presence, and may our ears be open to hear what He is speaking to us right now.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? (WEB)
