JESUS CAME TO DO HIS FATHER'S WILL
John 6:38-40
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39 This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. 40 This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (WEB)
In today's Scripture reading, Jesus clearly explains why He came to earth, who sent Him, and the purpose of His arrival. There is no doubt about Jesus' mission or who designed this plan. It was His beloved Father who sent Him into the world. It was His beloved Father who desired that not one would perish. It was His Father’s eternal plan that everyone who believes in Him would have eternal life.
Our Father does not want anyone to miss out on His love. His heart's cry is that every person on earth would believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, and accept the gift of eternal life that was planned before the world was created.
In obedience to His Father, everything Jesus did on earth was an exact reflection of His Father's heart (John 14:9-11). He came to fulfill His Father's will, and through His own death on the cross, Jesus paved the way for us to return home to our heavenly Father (John 14:6). May the reality of God's Fatherheart become more real to each of us today than ever before. The Father planned to send His Son into the world so that we all could be reconciled to His loving heart.
John 14:5-11
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’ 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
