JESUS REVEALS THE FATHER
Matthew 11:27
All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him. (WEB)
Jesus starts today's Bible reading by telling us that all things come from His Father. God is the source of all things as James tells us in James 1:17... Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. (WEB)
Jesus then goes on to tell us that no one knows Him except His Father and no one knows His Father except Him. What an amazing description of the intimacy that is found in the Trinity. Only the Father really knows the Son, and only the Son really knows the Father. However, if we stopped after Jesus makes this statement, we would miss the very point of what He was saying.
Jesus then says that this intimate relationship between Him and His Dad is no longer exclusive! That through knowing Jesus, we can know His Father as well! Through what Jesus did on the cross and through His resurrection, we can now be caught up in the intimacy found in the Trinity itself.
In John 6:44, Jesus tells us that it is actually His Father that draws us to Him and in today's Scripture, we read that Jesus in turn reveals His Father. If you are struggling to know God as Father, simply ask Jesus to reveal Him to you, for this is His absolute delight!
John 17:3
This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (WEB)
