GRACE, MERCY AND PEACE
2 John 1:3
Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. (WEB)
Grace, mercy, peace, truth, and love—these are five incredible blessings of being united with both the Father and the Son. Each of these divine qualities is part of your inheritance. You don't have to earn or deserve them; they are yours because you belong to Jesus.
If we have trouble understanding the concept of inheritance, we might also find it hard to receive everything God wants to give us. The Bible says in Romans 8:15-17 that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. That means everything that is part of Jesus' inheritance now belongs to us too. We are no longer slaves but heirs of the Most High because we carry the Spirit of Sonship in our hearts (Galatians 4:4-6).
To better understand what has been freely given to us, think of your own family. Your kids will receive your inheritance when you pass away. What do your children do to earn or deserve it? Nothing. The reason they are your heirs is that they were born into your family. That is the only qualifier. It is the same with God, but on a scale that is infinitely and eternally greater than we could ever imagine.
God's will for our lives is grace, mercy, and peace rooted in truth and love. Psalm 23 tells us that goodness and mercy will follow us all our days. We never have to chase after them because they will come running after us.
My prayer today is that you recognize there is an incredible storehouse of blessings in heaven that our Father has for you simply because you are in His Son. May we all have the faith today to say yes and amen to every good gift from the Father of Lights (James 1:17).
Ephesians 1:3-6
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; 5 having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved, (WEB)
