WHOEVER HAS THE SON HAS THE FATHER
1 John 2:22-23
22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn’t have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. (WEB)
In our ministry, we get to meet many people in different countries. Because the topic we are most asked to speak on is the Fatherheart of God, we meet many hungry people who want to know God more intimately as Father. To see their hunger is a wonderful thing. I believe that spiritual hunger comes from God, and as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount... blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6)
However, sometimes, when we talk to these dear, hungry people, we sense frustration. They feel like Father God is somehow a million miles away from them. In today's Scripture reading, I want to settle this issue once and for all. The Apostle John tells us that whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.
When we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we received the entire Godhead as part of the package deal! We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus told us in John 14:23 that both Father and Son would make their home in our hearts.
If you feel distanced from Father God, it is not because He is separated from you. He is closer to you than you could possibly imagine. The issue is that we just don't know how close He is. One definition of the word 'revelation' is to pull back the curtain and reveal what has always been there.
Today, I pray that we will all know that whoever has the Son also has the Father! May the Holy Spirit pull back the curtain that prevents us from seeing just how close our Father is to us right now. He is not separated from you by millions of light years, for He indwells your very heart because when you received Jesus, you also received your Father!
John 14:9-10
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’ 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. (WEB)
