AUGUST 23
OUR HEARTS DIRECTED INTO LOVE
2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ. (WEB)
The Christian life is centered on learning to live from our hearts. We are not meant to try to understand the Christian life through our intellect or emotions. Deep within us, in our hearts, God guides and directs us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us not to rely solely on our understanding... Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (WEB)
In today's Scripture reading, the Apostle Paul prays that the Lord would guide our hearts into God's love. When I think of this, I imagine the Spirit of God gently leading my heart into love, like a funnel guiding water to its destination.
My prayer today is that we all learn to live from our hearts and yield to the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit so that He can lead us into God's love and the patience of our elder brother. May love be our greatest goal (1 Corinthians 14:1) in everything we do today.
1 John 4:16
We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. (WEB)
