AUGUST 23
OUR HEARTS DIRECTED INTO LOVE
2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ. (WEB)
The Christian life is all about learning to live from our hearts. We are not called to try to figure out the Christian life in our intellect or our emotions. At the very core of our being, it is in our hearts that God leads and directs us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us not to lean on our understanding in any way... Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (WEB)
In today's Scripture reading, the Apostle Paul prays that the Lord would direct our hearts into God's love. When I think of this statement, I picture the Spirit of God gently guiding my heart into love, just like a funnel would guide water to its destination.
My prayer today is that we would all learn to live from our hearts and yield to the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit so He can direct us into God's love and the patience of our elder brother. May love be our greatest aim (1 Corinthians 14:1) in all we do today.
1 John 4:16
We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. (WEB)
