PEACE AT ALL TIMES
2 Thessalonians 3:16
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. (WEB)
We have a promise of peace from God that passes our understanding in Philippians 4:7. It is a peace that will guard our hearts and our minds. Our elder brother, the Prince of Peace, has also promised to give us His very own peace (John 14:27). In today's Scripture reading, Paul prays that the Lord of Peace himself will provide us with peace at all times in all ways. Now that's a lot of peace! In Romans 8:6, we read that the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Peace is part of the birthright of every believer. Peace is part of our heavenly inheritance. Peace is listed as one of the attributes of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. Peace is also something of substance, for Jesus told his disciples that they were able to let their peace rest on homes that they stayed in. (Matthew 10:13)
My prayer today is that the Lord of peace Himself will literally give you peace at all times and in all ways. I pray that you will be filled with such an overwhelming sense of God's presence that any nagging fears and worries will simply fade away. May you be able to sleep in the midst of any storm that you might face today (Luke 8:23), and may you, by faith, receive the gift of peace that your elder brother wants to impart to you.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. (WEB)
