AUGUST 6
PEACE AT ALL TIMES
2 Thessalonians 3:16
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. (WEB)
We have a promise of peace from God that surpasses our understanding, as stated in Philippians 4:7. It is a peace that will guard our hearts and minds. Our elder brother, the Prince of Peace, has also promised to give us His own peace (John 14:27). In today's Scripture reading, Paul prays that the Lord of Peace Himself will provide us with peace at all times and in every situation. That's a lot of peace! In Romans 8:6, we read that the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Peace is part of the birthright of every believer. It is also part of our heavenly inheritance. Peace is listed as one of the attributes of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. Additionally, peace is tangible, as Jesus told his disciples they could let their peace rest on the homes they stayed in. (Matthew 10:13)
My prayer today is that the Lord of peace Himself will truly give you peace at all times and in every way. I pray that you will be filled with such a powerful sense of God's presence that any lingering fears and worries will disappear. May you be able to sleep peacefully even in the midst of any storm you face today (Luke 8:23), and may you, by faith, receive the gift of peace that your elder brother desires to give you.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. (WEB)
