OCTOBER 10
JESUS CALLS US HIS FAMILY!
Hebrews 2:11-12
11 For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12 saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” (WEB)
In yesterday's blog, I discussed the two verses just before today's reading that spoke of Jesus' mission to bring many children to glory. I continue with the same theme today as the writer of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers. What an incredible declaration of love and belonging! The King of kings and the Lord of lords is not ashamed to be called our big brother!
As you read today's Bible verses, take a moment to imagine what the writer is describing... Jesus, the Firstborn of many brothers and sisters, is worshiping His Father amidst His siblings and says, "I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise."
My prayer today is that we would recognize when we worship God, Jesus Himself is also among us, boldly proclaiming His praises as well! May we all have eyes to see that this is truly a family event where everyone participates! And as we sing our praises to our Father, He in turn sings love songs over us (Zephaniah 3:17).
When we are born again, we join a chorus of praise from family members around the world, with Jesus Himself declaring His praise among His brothers and sisters. May we all know without question that we truly belong to the best family in the universe.
Romans 8:29
For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (WEB)
