THE LORD UPHOLDS THE RIGHTEOUS
Psalm 37:16-17
16 Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Yahweh upholds the righteous. (WEB)
Our heavenly Father has many names, one of which is The Ancient of Days. He has always been and will always be. No matter how old we become, He is much older than us. Since fathers are fathers all of the days of their children's lives, to God, we are just little.
Though we grow up and think we are big, we are still just little ones in our Dad's heart. For those who have children, think back to when they were toddlers, just learning to walk. Once they mastered crawling, the next challenge was to master walking!
First, they had to master simply standing. A chair, a coffee table, or a parent's loving hand made for ideal stabilizers to hang on to in case they would begin to wobble. Then, after standing for a while, they would start trying to take a step or two. Inevitably, in the early days of learning to walk, they will fall.
Now think of your father's/mother's heart towards them when they would fall. Would you be mad at them? Would you scold them for not getting it right? Of course not! They are just little, and the most natural thing we could do is pick them up, hug them, and encourage them to try again.
I believe that is how our Papa sees us. Sometimes, we stumble and fall on our journey. Just like a loving father would do for his little one, I believe our heavenly Father rushes to our side and holds us in His hand when we need Him most.
My prayer today is for anyone who has fallen at one time or another is to get up and try again. Our Father is right beside us and is ready, willing, and able to catch us if we stumble.
Psalm 37:23-24
23 A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. 24 Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand. (WEB)
