JANUARY 7
THE FATHER LOVES THE SON
John 3:34-35
34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. (WEB)
Today's Scripture passage is an excerpt of John The Baptist's description of Jesus. I find it interesting how John saw the love relationship between God the Father and God the Son. John didn't use language about the Messiah or the coming king to describe Jesus. He simply recognized what He saw at Jesus' baptism when the heavens opened up, and God said... "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Though Jesus spoke often about His relationship with His Father, most of the crowds missed the heart of what He was saying. They were too preoccupied with getting healed and fed to notice Father and Son's intimate love. That is why I find it so encouraging that John The Baptist would use these words to describe the first two Persons in the Godhead... The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. (WEB)
Today, I pray that we will all realize that the Kingdom of God is not about accomplishing a task or program. We are all part of the most amazing family in the universe. We are not servants working for a reward, but sons and daughters all about our Father's business.
Ephesians 3:14-15
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, (WEB)
