THAT I MAY KNOW HIM
Philippians 3:10-12
10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death; 11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Paul's passion was to truly know Christ—listening to and sharing in every aspect of His life. He desired not only the power of His resurrection but also the fellowship of His sufferings. Paul sought the full revelation of Jesus, not just the high points.
Though Paul is responsible for writing a large part of the New Testament, he never believed he had arrived. He was always hungry, always striving, always pressing forward toward the high calling of his Lord Jesus Christ. My prayer today is that we, too, would share in the same passion that Paul had.
May our life's focus be to know Christ fully—His power and His suffering. May we find encouragement in Jesus' promise in Matthew 5:6 when He said... Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. (WEB) May we all experience a greater filling of the Spirit of the Son today as we keep our eyes fixed on Him.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
