GLORIOUS FREEDOM
Romans 8:19-22
19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. When Adam and Eve fell in the garden, their decision affected all of creation. When they chose independence from God by eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, they made an unholy alliance with the father of lies. As a result of their disobedience, weeds would grow, and by the sweat of their brow, they would have to try and get by.
Though God knew the consequences of their actions, they weren't what He desired. The sin that was introduced into mankind not only devastated Adam and Eve but also infected the creation that they were charged to watch over. From the moment they were banished from the garden until now, I believe that all creation has been waiting for the sons of God to be revealed again on the earth.
The groaning of creation was answered two thousand years ago when God's only begotten Son walked the earth. The Second Adam (as Jesus was called) once again fulfilled the original blessing of Genesis 1 that the Father intended for mankind. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made the way for millions of sons and daughters to be revealed so that the original blessing could be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion on the earth.
We live in a generation where creation is still waiting for us to realize that we are truly God's children. The more we know that God is our Father and Jesus is our Elder Brother, the more we will step into our destiny as joint heirs of all that comes from God.
Today, I pray that we all know we can walk in the glorious freedom secured for us two thousand years ago. I pray that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation will open the eyes of our hearts today so that we can see who we are in Christ.
The reality is... The angels know who we are. The demons know who we are. All creation is waiting for us to know who we are. But do we know who we are?
1 John 3:1-2
1 Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is. (WEB)
