MARCH 5
I AM WITH MY FATHER
John 8:16-18
16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me. 17 It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid. 18 I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.” (WEB)
Jesus was never alone when He came to earth two thousand years ago. His Father was always with Him. Even amid the most fierce opposition, Father and Son stood side by side. Sure, there were times when Jesus needed to leave the masses to go to a remote place to be alone with His Dad, but even amid the crowds, His Father was always with Him.
This was very important to Jesus as we read in today's Scripture reading. The very focus of Jesus' life on earth was to honor and bring glory to God. Everything that Jesus did was a manifestation of His Father's heart. Every word He spoke came directly from His Father.
Living in the fallen world, we must know we are not alone. In the Great Commission, Jesus told us that He would be with us always, even to the end of the world. In John 14, Jesus told us that He and His Father would come, and both would make their home in us. Since we are also the temple of the Holy Spirit, the entire Godhead dwells within us!
Wherever you go, God goes. We can say the same thing as Jesus, who told the crowds that He was never alone. Today, I pray that the abiding sense of the Lord's presence would be evident to each of us as we journey through this life. May we know that whatever God calls us to do, He will do it with us!
Matthew 28:18-20
18 Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (WEB)
