THE WILL OF THE FATHER
Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (WEB)
In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus taught His disciples to pray 'Our Father who art in heaven...'. This beloved prayer has been prayed by countless numbers of believers throughout the centuries. In it, we ask that our Father's kingdom would come and that His will would be done on earth just like it is done in heaven.
This request in the Lord's prayer was very important to Jesus. Everything that He did on earth was in exact obedience to His Father's plan and purpose. Even when Jesus struggled in the Garden of Gethsemane, He yielded to His Father's plan when He said... 'Not my will be done, but yours Father'.
I believe that our call as Christians is to walk in harmony with the will of our Heavenly Father just like Jesus walks in harmony with His Father. I believe the more we know who we are in Christ, the more that our Father's desires will become second nature to us. In Philippians 2:13, the Apostle Paul tells us... For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. (WEB). It is actually God working in us to desire what is in line with His heart!
I believe the more that we learn to live by our heart and yield to the leading of the Spirit of God, the more that we will fulfill our destinies and live out our Papa's plan and purpose for our lives. My prayer today is that we would see that our Father's will is in harmony with how He created us to be. It may not always be easy to walk in obedience, especially in the orphan world system that we live in, but it is what we were created to do!
May each one of us discover the amazing plan and purpose that our Father prepared for each one of us before the foundation of the world and live out our destiny to the full. May we echo the words found in the Lord's Prayer today and pray to our Father... "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth just like it is in heaven".
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,9 not of works, that no one would boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. (WEB)
