OCTOBER 19
TREASURES OF WISDOM
Colossians 2:1-3
1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden. (WEB)
There is an abundant supply of treasures available to every believer. Ephesians 1:3 mentions this when Paul writes... Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; (WEB).
While this treasure remains a mystery to those who do not yet know Christ, it is part of our spiritual inheritance for those of us who have believed. This treasure cannot be earned or deserved; it is simply given to every son and daughter of the living God.
The more we begin to 'know' both Father and Son, the more we will understand the vastness of the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge available to us. To 'know' God is simply to become more intimate with Him — to spend time with Him, open our hearts to Him, and receive the love He has for us.
My prayer today is that our God and Father would give us the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation so that we can know Him better. As the eyes of our hearts open to the spiritual reality of the Kingdom of our God and Father, we will see more clearly the vast treasures of wisdom and knowledge available to us as part of our inheritance.
Ephesians 1:15-18
15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints, 16 don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (WEB)
