REDEEMING THE TIME
Colossians 4:5-6
5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. (WEB)
Seventy years is a long time to live on this earth. And in some ways, it is quite a race that we are all running, but in the light of eternity, it is only a blink of an eye. In James 4:14, our life is called but a 'vapor'.... Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a short time, and then vanishes away. (WEB)
In today's Scripture passage, the Apostle Paul tells the church in Colossae to walk in wisdom so they can make the most of their time. As we go about our daily activities, we often don't realize who is watching us: our co-workers, friends, neighbors, and maybe even the grocery store clerk at the store. Many people in our sphere of influence are still 'on the outside' when our Father wants them 'on the inside.'
My prayer today is that God would give us the wisdom to walk in grace, so that our lives would be seasoned with the salt that comes from God, which would make what we carry attractive to those around us. May we be ready to answer the hope that is in us at any time, fully aware that our time on this earth is precious and short, especially in the light of eternity. May those around us who are still on the outside be invited to come in and taste and see that the Lord is good! (Psalm 34:8)
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear: (WEB)
