PAPA DELIGHTS IN OUR WAY
Psalm 37:23-24
23 A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. 24 Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand. (WEB)
In this psalm of David, we read how God is intimately involved in our lives. He actually delights in the way that He has planned for us and is ready to catch us if we fall. When I think of this picture, I am reminded of when our children were learning to walk.
Though not yet steady on their feet, our three children were always ambitious in their efforts to learn to walk and leave behind the crawling stage. At first, they needed all the help they could get: a coffee table, a couch, or the outstretched hand of their parents.
At times, they would begin to wobble, and at that very moment, we would reach out our hand and catch them before they fell. We never scolded them for stumbling or discouraged them from trying to walk. We were delighted that they dared to risk again, over and over.
I think our heavenly Father sees us in many ways like that. He is attentive and waiting to offer His hand when we stumble and fall. Today, I pray that we realize He is not looking for perfection in us but our willingness to keep trying. May we feel the delight of our Father's love today as we continue to take one step at a time.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (WEB)
