THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
John 15:26-27
26 “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me. 27 You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning. (WEB)
In the last words that Jesus spoke to His disciples before He went to the cross, He told them that He would soon send them the Spirit of truth. We know from many Scripture references that Holy Spirit is called both the Spirit of the Father as well as the Spirit of the Son. He is the third person in the Trinity and has come to make His home in every believer's heart so that He can reveal to us who God truly is.
We are His temple, His dwelling place both now and forever more! It is the presence of the Spirit of the living God in us that pours out the love from heaven (Romans 5:5). The Holy Spirit that lives in us is the One who tells us that we are children of God (Romans 8:15-17). And it is the same Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation that will help us get to know our Father and our Elder Brother better (Ephesians 1:17).
Every person who has truly become born again is now the resting place of God Himself. While we may not feel like He is close at times, He will never leave us. My prayer today is that we would be more aware of God's abiding presence inside of us than ever before. May we all feel comforted knowing that the Spirit of truth lives in us and continually brings fresh revelation to us so that we might know who we truly are.
Romans 8:15-17
15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
