THE VERY IMAGE OF GOD
Hebrews 1:3-4
3 His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 having become so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they have. Jesus Christ is the exact representation of the glory of God and the very image of His Father's substance. When Jesus came to the world two thousand years ago, He came in His Father's name. His every expression of love was a mirror image of His heavenly Father. His heart then and His heart now, is still the same... To reveal His Dad to us.
If we want to know what Almighty God is like, we need to look no further than Jesus Christ for the complete revelation of God can be seen in the life of His Son. Jesus is the manifestation of His Father in human likeness. When we look at Jesus, we are looking at His Father (John 14:9).
Jesus told us that He didn't come into the world to judge it, but to save it (John 12:47). The false images that people have of Father God as an angry judge are simply not true. Jesus set the record straight when He showed us what His Father was really like.
My prayer today is that each one of us would know this through and through. Jesus is exactly like His Father in every way. There is no reason for us to be afraid of God because of broken father perceptions on earth. Jesus' heart two thousand years ago is the same heart that He has today... To reveal His Father to us and to be the way in which we all can come home to His Father's love (John 14:6). May each one of us have a fresh homecoming today.
John 17:25-26
25 Righteous Father, the world hasn’t known you, but I knew you; and these knew that you sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (WEB)
