TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL
1 John 3:8
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (WEB)
In today's Bible reading, the Apostle John explains that Jesus came to earth to destroy the works of the devil. In John 10:10, Jesus distinguishes His heart from the enemy's when He says... The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came so that they may have life, and have it abundantly. (WEB)
I love how the Amplified Bible translates the last half of 1 John 3:8... The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. (AMP) Jesus came to undo all of the works of the devil in our lives. He came to destroy all of the brokenness, all of the suffering, and all of the darkness.
My prayer today is that we would recognize that this is the truth. God is good, and He has only the best plans for His children. He is passionate in His love for us, and it is His desire that we be free from all the influences in our lives that kill, steal, and destroy us.
Remember, it is God who does the work, not us. Simply agree with the redemptive work that He has already completed and rest in His power to restore everything that the thief has taken from you.
Romans 16:20
And the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (WEB)
