ABOVE ALL ELSE
Colossians 3:14
Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. (WEB)
In Colossians 3, the Apostle Paul teaches the Colossians how to live godly. The chapter begins with him urging them to set their hearts on things above. From there, he discusses shedding the old nature and putting on the new one. Then comes today's Bible verse... Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. (WEB)
Once again, Paul emphasizes the importance of love in the Christian life: Above all else, walk in love. During times when our Christian walk feels complicated, may we all remember the simplicity that love provides. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul explains in detail how pointless our Christian service is without love as the main motivation.
When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was in Mark 12:28-34, He replied, in my paraphrased words... Love God, and then love each other as you love yourself. Love is the fulfillment of the law, and it surpasses everything else. May we make love our greatest goal (1 Corinthians 14:1) in all we do. God forbid that we ever let anything in our Christian life take precedence over love.
1 John 4:16
We know and have believed in the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. (WEB)
