THE FATHER DRAWS US TO JESUS
John 6:44-46
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father. (WEB)
It is amazing to me how the Trinity is deeply involved in the evangelism process of the human heart. The Holy Spirit is poured out on all flesh (Acts 2:17); The Father speaks to each of us about Jesus (John 6:44-46), and then Jesus brings us to His Father (John 14:6).
In today's Scripture reading, I want to focus on how our heavenly Father is the agent of evangelism who actually draws us to Jesus! Jesus said in today's text that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws him. He goes on to say that everyone who hears the Father's voice and learns from Him comes to Jesus.
Take a moment to consider the significance of this statement. Every person who has ever come to Christ did so because the Father drew them. Our Heavenly Father has not turned His heart away from humanity; in fact, He is closer to us than we can imagine. He is always speaking and constantly drawing us to Jesus, so that Jesus can bring us back into our Father's heart.
What an incredible Father we have! As the Apostle Paul mentioned in Acts 17:28... ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’ (WEB)
