AUGUST 22
ONE MEDIATOR
1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times; (WEB)
In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to go through the high priest to reach God. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ became the mediator between mankind and His Father. Because of the completed work of our elder brother, we now have direct access to our heavenly Father through Christ.
As Jesus declared in John 14:6, He is the way to the Father. In Christ, we have been reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19) and are now seated in heavenly places. While we have many wonderful brothers and sisters who encourage us along the way, it is not our heavenly Father's intention that any of them get in the way between Him and us.
We are His beloved children, and He always pays attention to us! I pray that we all understand this deeply so that unhealthy horizontal attachments don't distract us.
Ephesians 2:13-18
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition, having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace; and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility thereby. He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near. For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. (WEB)
