NOVEMBER 29
IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE
John 14:1-3
1 “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also. (WEB)
Just before Jesus went to the cross, He said these words of comfort to His disciples... Don't let your heart be troubled. Jesus knew that His disciples' hearts would be troubled. He knew that His suffering on the cross would devastate His friends. So that is why He reassured them that their separation would only be temporary.
I believe that we can take Jesus' words to heart for our lives as well. So don't let your heart be troubled. No matter what you are facing today, know that Jesus has secured a place for you in His Father's house. Some translations say that we all have our own mansion in His house. Other translations tell us that we all have a home there.
My prayer today is that we would all know that there is a place of security in our Father's heart that can never be taken away from us. It is secure and safe forever. Our Elder Brother Jesus, the First Born of many brothers and sisters (Romans 8:29) has made a place of belonging for each one of us where we will all live together forever.
May these words bring great comfort to every anxious heart today. Though the world around us may shake and crumble, the foundation of our eternal home in the heart of our God and Father will remain secure forever!
Ephesians 2:17-22
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, 20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; 21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; 22 in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
