DOING OUR FATHER'S WILL
Matthew 12:46-50
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. 47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.” 48 But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 He stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (WEB)
In today's Bible reading, Jesus tells His disciples that those who do the will of His Father in heaven are considered closer to Him than His actual blood relatives. In Ephesians 3:14-15, the Apostle Paul prays... 14 For this reason, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. (WEB).
The kingdom of God is centered on family. It’s not about religion or programs; it’s about belonging to an amazing family. Just as Jesus came to do His Father's will, so should we. By doing so, we show the world that we are joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:15-17) and sons and daughters of the Most High.
My prayer today is that each of us acknowledges that we belong to the greatest family in the universe! We are not outsiders looking in, but insiders looking out. And each one of us has a unique role to play. May our passion in life be simply to do our Father's will wherever we go.
John 8:35-36
35 A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever. 36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (WEB)
