HE HAS NOTHING IN ME
John 14:30-31
30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here. (WEB)
In today's passage of Scripture, Jesus tells His disciples that the prince of the world (Satan) would soon come. The good news is that Satan has nothing in Jesus. He has no hooks that can connect him to Jesus in any way. Though Jesus suffered as a man and endured temptation, He never yielded and was the only person to be completely blameless and without sin.
It was for this reason alone that Jesus could be the once-and-for-all sacrifice for mankind's sins. Through His death on a cross, He defeated death, sin, and the devil. Through His resurrection, He made the way for all of us to be reconciled to God our Father.
Now, because of this glorious atonement, we have been made one with Jesus Christ and declared righteous in the sight of Father God. As the Apostle Paul declared in Galatians 2:20... I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. (WEB)
While we still live in fallible flesh, the truth is that we have been bought with a price, and we now belong to God. The prince of this world has nothing in us anymore, for we belong to Christ! The power of the Holy Spirit has made our spirit alive.
Though we sometimes sin, our identity is no longer 'sinner' but 'saint'. Today, I pray that we will know in our hearts that we are new creations in Christ. Though the accuser of the brethren continues to rail against us, he has nothing in us!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. (WEB)
