AUGUST 18
BRICK BY BRICK
2 Peter 1:5-8
Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (WEB)
The Lord is building His body piece by piece. He adds moral excellence to our faith, knowledge to our moral excellence, and so on, with love being the ultimate goal. The main result God desires is for us to live a life of love (Jude 1:21). When we live in love, we live in God, and God lives in us. (1 John 4:16)
My prayer today is that we will be encouraged as the Father gradually shapes us into the image of His Son, one step at a time (Romans 8:29). He is in no rush because love is patient. Love is kind (1 Corinthians 13:4). He understands us like no one else ever has (Psalm 103:13-14), and He has committed all of heaven's resources towards our transformation.
The truth is that we are all being transformed from glory to glory, brick by brick, as we continue to behold Jesus's face. By gazing into His loving eyes, we will grow into all the love He has for us.
2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. (WEB)
