AUGUST 19
MAY GOD BE GLORIFIED IN ALL THINGS
1 Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (WEB)
This Bible verse has been both very inspiring and sobering. As someone who teaches often, I find that thinking I should speak as if I am delivering God’s words evokes mixed feelings in me. First, it feels like a heavy responsibility! But second, it’s so encouraging to think that our Father might trust me with His own words.
I believe the main point of today's Scripture is that whatever we do, we should do it as if God is working through us. The core message is that our Father might be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything we do. So whether you are preaching to thousands or doing the dishes, do it to honor God.
I pray that we all recognize that our Father considers our entire lives sacred, not just the parts we deem 'more spiritual.' He dwells within us and accompanies us everywhere we go. When we play with our children, He is right there with us. When we go to work, He goes along. May we understand that everything in our lives is truly a sacrifice that honors His heart.
Romans 12:1
Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. (WEB)
