BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT
Ephesians 5:18-21
18 Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father; 21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ. (WEB)
Some would look to indulgences to find comfort. Whether that overindulgence is alcohol, food, relationships, or even church striving, Paul tells us today that we are not to fill ourselves with any of these things but are to be continually filled with the Spirit of God.
As the life flow that originates in the heart of God bubbles up within us, the result is a joy-filled life of declaring, singing, encouraging, and thanking our heavenly Father for all He has done for us in Christ. My prayer today is that we all be continually filled with the Holy Spirit, resulting in an explosion of joy around us that would affect every person we meet.
Romans 14:17
for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. (WEB)
