AUGUST 9
A VALUABLE SECRET
Philippians 4:12-13
12 I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. 13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. (WEB)
When we often quote verse 13 from this Scripture passage, we rarely include the previous verse. When we say... 'I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me,’ we are usually referencing something other than contentment.
While this declaration can be applied to every impossible task that our Father asks us to do, it also suggests learning to be content in the midst of being humbled or during times of abundance. My prayer is that we all discover the secret of contentment. May we see that the love God has for us is constant and ever-flowing — in times of scarcity and in times of blessings.
Our God and Father loves us all equally, no matter which season we're in. May we realize that any situation life brings our way can never separate us from God's wonderful, eternal love for us. Whatever happens, we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength!
Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
