TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL

1 John 3:8
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (WEB)

In today's Bible reading, the Apostle John tells us that the reason why Jesus came to the earth was to destroy the works of the devil. In John 10:10, Jesus told us the difference between His heart and the heart of the enemy when He said... The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. (WEB)

I love how the Amplified Bible translates the last half of 1 John 3:8... The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. (AMP) Jesus came to undo all of the works of the devil in our lives. He came to destroy all of the brokenness, all of the suffering, and all of the darkness.

My prayer today is that we would know that this is the truth. God is good and He has only the best plans for His kids. He is ferocious in His love for us and it is His heart that we would be free from all the influences in our life that kill, steal and destroy us.

Remember it is God that does the work, not us. Just agree with the redemptive work that He has already done and rest in His ability to undo all that the thief has taken from you.
