Matthew 1:18-21
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this; for after his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly. 20 But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She shall bring forth a son. You shall call his name Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.” (WEB) On the eve of the day when millions of people around the world will celebrate the birth of Christ, may we remember the reason for this season. From the moment Jesus was born in a manger, until the time He cried "It is finished" on a cross 33 years later, His mission remained the same... To save His people from their sins. As we prepare our hearts this Advent season for the birth of the King of Kings, may we always remember why He came... To save us from our sins and to reconcile us to His Father. As we celebrate God's greatest gift to mankind, may the first words that Jesus spoke after the resurrection echo in our hearts and remind us of the reason for Christmas... John 20:17 Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” (WEB) Comments are closed.
