1 Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever. (WEB)
A young shepherd boy named David learned an invaluable lesson while tending his father's flock... Through loving, protecting and laying his own life down for the sheep under his care, David learned something of the heart of God. ...He has the heart of a shepherd too!
In Hebrews 13:20, Jesus is called the Great Shepherd of His sheep. In John 10, Jesus tells us how His sheep hear His voice and always follow Him. In verse 11, Jesus even says that the shepherd lays down His own life for the sheep.
No matter where we go or what we do, God's shepherding heart is watching over us. He provides for us, He protects us, and He restores us. May this revelation go deeper into all of our hearts today. We are not alone in this world, for we live all the days of our lives under the Great Shepherd's care.
20 Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus, 21 make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (WEB
