THE GREATEST OF ALL

John 14:28-29
28 You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I. 29 Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.  (WEB)

In Matthew 23:11, Jesus told His disciples... But he who is greatest among you will be your servant. (WEB) In the upside down kingdom of God, the greatest in the kingdom will be the servant of all. In today's Scripture passage, Jesus says that it is His Father who is the greatest in the kingdom. So the obvious conclusion is that He also has the greatest servant heart as well.

We know that Jesus was the exact representation of His Father in every way (Hebrews 1:3). Everything that Jesus said came from His Father's heart. Everything that Jesus did originated in the will of His Heavenly Dad. Even when Jesus washed His disciples feet in John 13, He was modelling the servant heart of God.

As we reflect upon the humility of the Trinity today, may we be overwhelmed by the love that God has for us and His willingness to serve us. My prayer is that we would see that the more we become like Jesus, the more we will truly reflect the servanthood of our Heavenly Father.

Philippians 2:5-11
5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
