THE EYES OF YOUR HEART

Ephesians 1:15-18
15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints, 16 don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (WEB)

Paul's prayer for the church at Ephesus was that they would simply know who they were in Christ. While there are many Bible passages that describe our royal position in Christ ... joint-heirs with Jesus, seated in heavenly places, a new creation, etc... living in the reality of our calling is another thing altogether.

For many of us, we see all of the biblical promises of our destiny as being something that we will experience once we pass into eternity. But the truth is that we are a new creation in Christ right NOW. So I echo the prayer of the Apostle Paul today and ask the Father of glory to awaken our slumbering spirits. I pray this so that we could truly see with the eyes of our hearts, and intimately know the glorious inheritance that we have right now as being part of the most amazing, everlasting, family of God.

Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.
