STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD IN YOU

2 Timothy 1:6
For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (WEB)

When God gives a gift to someone, He doesn't then take the gift back. Romans 11:29 says... For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. (WEB) This means that when our Father gives a gift to us, He gives it to us for the long run.

In James 1:17, we read how God is not fickle in His gift giving and He does not change like shifting shadows. Let's read this verse from the World English Bible... Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

My encouragement to you today is that you would recognize the gifts that your Heavenly Father has given you and as the Apostle Paul wrote to his spiritual son, Timothy in today's Scripture, that you would stir up the gift of God which is in you!

I love how the Amplified Bible translates 1 Timothy 1:6... That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands with those of the elders at your ordination]. (AMP)

The one thing about getting a gift is that we first have to 'receive' the gift before we can enjoy its benefits. My prayer today is that we would all be able to receive the gifts that our Heavenly Father has given us and then rekindle the embers and fan into flame each one of the precious gifts He has entrusted to us.

As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms. (WEB)
