Luke 12:29-31
29 Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious. 30 For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you. (WEB) Jesus told us that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. He taught us to pray "Your Kingdom come" in the Lord's prayer. He also told us that the reality of the Kingdom dwelt within each believer. The Bible calls us sons of the Kingdom and in today's Bible passage, Jesus encourages us to make the kingdom of God, our first priority. It is interesting to note that the anxiety created by focusing on the basic needs in life (food, clothing and shelter) can actually distract us from seeking first the kingdom of our Father. Jesus tells us that the nations of the world spend their time seeking these things, but we don't have to do as the world does because we have a Heavenly Dad who knows what we need before we need it! All He wants us to do is seek Him first and let Him take care of the details in our life. My prayer today is that we would all be comforted by these words from Jesus. We don't have to live an anxious life. We don't have to fixate on our daily needs. All we have to do is seek first the Kingdom of God and everything else will be added to us! Matthew 6:9-13 The Lord's Prayer 9 Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. 13 Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’ (WEB) Comments are closed.
