REMAIN IN BOTH FATHER AND SON

1 John 2:24-25
24 Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. 25 This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life. (WEB)

The Amplified Bible translates 1 John 2:24 this way... As for you, keep in your hearts what you have heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the first dwells and remains in you, then you will dwell in the Son and in the Father [always]. (AMP)

Our calling in life is to simply remain in Jesus. Since Jesus and His Father are one, then we are in the Father as well. We don't have to do anything else but remain right there. We don't have to prove ourselves over and over again. We don't have to strive and try to keep saved. Our calling in life is to simply take a deep breath, and remain in the union we enjoy with the Godhead.

My prayer today is that any sense of striving or restlessness that we feel would be overshadowed by the everlasting peace that is part of our inheritance in Christ. May we never feel that we need to add anything to what Jesus has freely given on our behalf.

For everyone who has received the free gift of eternal life bought and paid for by the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is completely safe and secure. All we need to do is simply remain in the One who has promised to keep us from falling. May every unsettled heart find rest for their souls in this promise.

John 15:4-7
4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
