PURE RELIGION

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (WEB)

Our Father's heart is for widows and orphans. His heart breaks for every person who has been devastated by the loss of a loved one. I believe that in our generation, we could extend the meaning of today's Scripture to include all of the single moms and all of the children who don't have fathers present in their lives. God deeply cares for families and is the One from whom all families in heaven and earth derive their name. (Ephesians 3:14-15)

If you have struggled with the devastation of losing a loved one, your Heavenly Father's heart of compassion reaches out to you. If you have felt the devastation of divorce, His heart is for you. And if you are an orphan because of circumstances beyond your control, know that your heavenly Father has promised to be a father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5).

My prayer today is that every person struggling with the pain of loneliness or loss, would know that God promises to be close to the brokenhearted and He will save those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) Pure religion to our heavenly Father is to look after all those who have been widowed, divorced and left feeling fatherless.

May the comfort that comes from God (and through us) reach out to the countless multitudes of people struggling in our communities with the good news of His love today.
