PAPA'S FIRST FRUITS

James 1:18
Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. (WEB)

When a farmer offers up the first fruits of his harvest, it is the best that he has to give. I love the thought that our Heavenly Father gave us birth as His sons so that we could be His first fruits on full display throughout the universe.

I like how the Amplified Bible translates James 1:18...And it was of His own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] Word of Truth, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself]. (AMP)

In the verse just prior to today's reading in James 1:17, we read how God is the giver of all good gifts... Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. (WEB) He has given us the most amazing of all gifts when He made us His first fruits and called us His very own children!

1 John 3:1-2
Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is. (WEB)
