PAPA DELIGHTS IN OUR WAY

Psalm 37:23-24
23 A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. 24 Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand. (WEB)

In this psalm of David, we read how God is intimately involved in our lives. He actually delights in the way that He has planned for us and is ready to catch us if we fall. When I think of this picture, I am reminded of when our children were just learning to walk.

Though not yet steady on their feet, our three children were always ambitious in their efforts to learn to walk and leave behind the crawling stage. At first, they needed all the help they could get. A coffee table, a couch or the outstretched hand of their mom or dad.

At times, they would begin to wobble and at that very moment, we would reach out our hand and catch them before they fell. We never scolded them for stumbling and we never discouraged them from trying to walk. We were delighted that they had the courage to risk again... over and over.

I really think in many ways that is how our Heavenly Father sees us. He is attentive and He is waiting to offer His hand when we stumble and fall. My prayer today is that we would realize that He is not looking for perfection in us, just our willingness to keep trying. May we feel the delight of our Father's love today as we continue to take one step at a time.
