1 John 1:3
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ. (WEB) In today's Scripture reading, the Apostle John writes of what he has discovered God to be to him. He tells his readers that he is making known that which he has seen and heard. As one of Jesus' closest friends, John had one of the best vantage points of all the disciples. It is interesting to note that John starts off this letter with an invitation for us to enter into the fellowship that he enjoyed with both Father and Son. As the one who laid his head on Jesus' bosom, as the one who described himself as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved', he was well qualified to talk about the fellowship that he enjoyed with Jesus. And John invites everyone who reads this passage to enter into the same fellowship that he enjoyed! It is amazing to think that because of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, we all have access into the same fellowship with the Godhead... Father, Son & Holy Spirit. To enjoy fellowship with someone is to share a common bond that unites their hearts together. When we fellowship over a meal, we break bread and share our lives with each other. Today's invitation is for us to enter into the most holy of fellowship that exists within the Trinity. May we all know that we have free access into the Holy of Holies anytime, night or day because of our royal position. In this place of communion and intimacy, there are no outsiders. We all belong. We all have our special place. We all get to lay our head upon the breast of our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ. May we all discover in increasing measure how rich the fellowship is that is awaiting us not only in heaven, but right here on earth. Don't wait another moment, come in and join the party! 2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.
