1 John 5:1
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. (WEB) In today's Bible reading, the Apostle John tells us that anyone who loves the Father will also love the child born of Him. The Amplified version of 1 John 5:1 says it this way... Everyone who believes (adheres to, trusts, and relies on the fact) that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) is a born-again child of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him (His offspring). (AMP) What that simply means is that if we truly love our Father and value His heart, we will love what He loves too. If we say we love God and hate our brothers, then we still have a way to go on our journey. That doesn't mean that we are not born of God, but it does mean that we are not living in love (1 John 4:16) as our Papa has intended. The true indication that we are walking in the reality of being God's children is that we begin to love each other as He loves us. Of course the secret to loving each other is found in being able to first receive His love and then pass it on to others. As Jesus said in John 15:12... “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. (WEB) My prayer is that we as the Church would know that the highest priority that we have in life is to love. To love God and to love each other as we love ourselves. The more that we make love our greatest aim (1 Corinthians 14:1), the more that we will value one another as brothers and sisters in the same family. I believe the greatest thing that we can do individually and corporately to bless our Father's heart is to love each other. John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (WEB) Comments are closed.
