Genesis 1:1-3
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3 God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (WEB) The Bible opens with these words... "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." For finite beings like ourselves, it is hard to comprehend what this means. For God has always been, and always will be. Jesus is called the Alpha and the Omega... the beginning and the end. As we start a new year, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would give us a deeper understanding of what actually happened 'in the beginning'. I don't understand it myself and my limited mind cannot grasp the vastness of God's plan, but all I know is that the Bible says that Father God had us in His heart before He even created the world! In Ephesians 1:3-6, Paul the Apostle tells us that God chose us even before He made the foundations of the earth. Such love and planning should cause us all to shout Hallelujah in thanksgiving to such a loving Father for His amazing attention to detail and His loving plan for humanity. As we enter a new year, I pray that this might be the best year ever for you in knowing the amazing, eternal, unlimited love that God has for you! Ephesians 1:3-6 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; 5 having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved, (WEB).
