I WILL TELL YOU PLAINLY ABOUT MY FATHER

John 16:25
I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. (WEB)

In chapters 13-17 of the gospel of John, we see an intimate revealing of Jesus' heart for His disciples that was intended to prepare them for what was to happen next... And that was His death on the cross. If I were to choose one section of the gospels that I would describe as my most favorite, these 4 chapters would be my choice!

In today's Bible reading, Jesus tells His disciples that He is no longer going to speak to them in parables but will be more direct about talking plainly to them about His Dad. Right after Jesus said this, He went to on to elaborate on this promise in verses 26-27...

John 16:26-27
26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you, 27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God. 28 I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.” (WEB)

Since the moment that Jesus promised to plainly speak of His Father until today, we have been seeing a greater revealing of Father God through the Holy Spirit that bears witness that we are His kids (Romans 8:16).

My prayer is that we would all know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Almighty God is truly our Abba. For Jesus' death, burial and resurrection has secured this miracle on our behalf. The journey that we are now on is a journey that will continue to bring a greater revealing of our Heavenly Dad's love for us both now and throughout eternity.

John 17:24-26
24 Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory, which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 Righteous Father, the world hasn’t known you, but I knew you; and these knew that you sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (WEB)
