Isaiah 49:15-16
15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you! 16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. (WEB) Since our God and Father is the source of all love, that means He loves us with both a masculine and a feminine love. There are many illustrations of God's 'motherheart' for us throughout the Bible. Isaiah 66:13 is just one example when God says this to Israel... As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.” (WEB) The good news is that the love of God will meet every need we have. His is the perfect love and He promises to love us with a father's love, a mother's love, a brother's love, a friend's love, and even the love of a bridegroom. In today's Scripture passage, we read a very powerful feminine expression of the heart of Father God. His message to you today is that even if your own mother forgets you, He will not forget you for He has engraved your name on the palms of His hand! May the reality of His everlasting maternal love bring comfort to every area in your heart where you need to be comforted. Isaiah 66:10-13 10 “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her; 11 that you may nurse and be satisfied at the comforting breasts; that you may drink deeply, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.” 12 For thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and you will nurse. You will be carried on her side, and will be dandled on her knees. 13 As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.” (WEB) Comments are closed.
